“But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter until the perfect day.” Proverbs 4:18
I want to use Joseph as a perfect example of this. I have found so many times a situation that I am going through is not just about the situation but oh so much more beyond it. There is such a bigger picture that I cannot see and am unaware of. For Joseph it was more than a betrayal from his brothers. More than being thrown into a pit. More than being sold into slavery. More than being thrown into prison. And even beyond his “dreams”. It was about saving a whole race of people from being starved out of existence. God’s chosen people. What he did affected the world. I have learned over the years that it’s never just about what I see happening at the time. It’s always so much deeper and bigger going out into the future.
I tend to operate in the flesh and only what my physical eyes can see at that time. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He sees it all and that is how He operates from that viewpoint and vantage. I recently went through something that was extremely hard and I didn’t want to do it. God was calling me out from a place I had been for a long time. He wanted me to go to a new place. As usual I just saw the surface of what was happening. I didn’t like it. The Lord had to bring to my remembrance again its not about this one thing that I was currently going through. It was so much deeper and bigger.
When I line up with seeing it is so much bigger I can then get very excited for what lies ahead. I have no idea what lies ahead. He has not shown me but I can walk in absolute confidence forward because I know I’m in the center of His will. It’s then that I can take something so extremely hard and flip it into excitement because I can trust Him. I can stand on these truths. He will not give me more than I can handle. He will not take me out of something and then leave me. He is also going before me at all times preparing what I’m about to enter into. I love how He is always redeeming and making it more beautiful than I ever could have asked or imagined. Who am I to deny what the Lord can do. For He is more than able.
Even all of the dreams that Joseph had could not prepare him to fully understand what God wanted to do through him. Being thrown down into the pit by his brothers and then ultimately to rule and reign as second in command in the known world at that time. It was way beyond him. What was crucial for Joseph and the same for me today is to choose over and over again to not be offended, become bitter or angry in the situation. That’s the best choice. The best thing to choose is to remain in His will knowing that He goes before me and He will not leave me. Keeping my eyes fixed and focused on the author and finisher of my life. He knows all seasons and I can trust Him no matter what. A situation is always so much deeper and bigger than what I can see or comprehend at that time.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
