“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30
The other day I was facing something that wanted to grip me. It wanted to take me down into fear and worry. As my mind was just starting to go there I had a vision. I saw Jesus at the back of the boat asleep. He and His disciples were crossing a lake and they found themselves in a major storm with the wind and waves wanting to overtake them. As I saw the vision I knew what the Lord was saying to me. No fear! At that moment I shot my hand up in the air and I spoke out loud and said, “Father just as Your Son was asleep in that boat with no fear or worry I choose this as well.” He had such perfect peace that He could sleep through a storm. So I too took a stand in that position. I refused to allow fear to take over. If Jesus could do it, so could I.
As a child when I read these incredible stories I thought of them as just that, a story. As I mature in the Lord I understand them to be truth and reality. They were written for my benefit to give me what I need to walk through this life. I too can fall asleep with no fear in the midst of my storms!
There is only one reason Jesus could be asleep. He knew He was in His Father’s arms. He is one with the Father. Nothing and no one could disrupt in any way the plans that the Father had for Him. I know and I believe I am in my Father’s hands. He will not allow anything to come to me without going through Him first. I can look to Him. I can trust Him. I can move forward in perfect peace when I am in the center of His will!
The next raging storm that hits you, picture yourself sound asleep resting in the arms of Jesus. Go forward in peace my child!
He said to them, “Why are you timid, you men of little faith?” Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and it became perfectly calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:26-27
“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” Proverbs 3:25-26
