“I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now my eyes see Thee.” Job 42:5
Faith and understanding grows during storms. This is something that Job was very familiar with as a giant storm took place in his life. Job experienced the loss of his children, home, land, livestock, servants and his three best friends accusing him that all this was his fault. They said it was because of his sin. Job finds himself sitting in the ashes at the local dump scraping the boils the enemy had inflicted upon him.
These were all places that Job had not experienced before. Yet each one of these was an opportunity for Job to get to know and understand the Lord in a new way. It was a place for him to experience more of God’s character and nature so that he could grow deeper in Him. He had not come to fully understand God until the storm. Job did not know His full character and he would only fully understand through the suffering. He came to confess, “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now my eyes see Thee.” As terrible as the storm was, Job seized the opportunity to grow in his understanding of God and the Bible says the Lord restored everything back to him with a double portion.
When we go through our storms the Lord will reveal Himself in a way that we have not known Him before. It’s an opportunity to know Him deeper. You will find and experience His presence. He will not abandon you even if others do. Sometimes we just need to go through it with Him alone. You will begin to see clearly even though it’s dark. In the end you will know Him more and yourself as well!
