“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:10-11
Each of us has a call on our life. It’s our destiny. It’s what we were born to do. It’s walking out the complete will of the Father in our life.
“Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in the book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:16
“Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose.” 2 Timothy 1:9
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29
I have shared in the beginning that the call on my life is to minister through the ministry of Operation Christmas Child. I found myself down in the pole barn one day all alone stamping over ten thousand white boxes for our shoe boxes that year. Our goal was to fill ten thousand shoe boxes. We were given a donation of ten thousand white shoebox size boxes. I did not want them to be plain white so I started stamping pictures on them. What an overwhelming job.
I found myself saying to the Lord while looking up to the heavens, “Does this really matter? Am I making a difference?”
I was not expecting Him to answer immediately but He did. His presence moved into the room and He said, “Yes this is making a difference.” That was all I needed to continue moving forward.
You see it was not just about stamping the boxes but I was being thwarted by the one person who should have been partnering with me, my spouse. But each time that he would try to stop me the Lord would go on around him and bring the provision another way. I say this to say that nothing and no one can stop me from fulfilling the call that is on my life. Only my disobedience can do that. These are some of the scriptures that He gave me to encourage and strengthen me.
“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.” 2 Timothy 4:17
“Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” Colossians 4:17
Remember only my not obeying what He has shown me to do can stop the call in my life. I am solely responsible for lining up and agreeing with Him to fulfill the call.
