Always Enough

“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.”

Psalm 34:10

My friend and I had a discussion the other day about, “enough”. Here are some of the takeaways from that discussion. She expressed that sometimes circumstances are such that it seems it won’t be enough. There can be disappointments when something is taken away. It can look like there will be a lack and the fear of not being enough tries to come.

My friend shared one of those times she was overwhelmed when she got the news at work that her vacation days were being reduced. It had taken many years to build them up. She was weary and had been excited that the following year she would be able to take this time off. When she heard the news that she would not have that time off she became overwhelmed and disappointed. As she was pondering this, the Lord whispered, “ It will be enough.” She said she could then trust and be at peace knowing that it will be, simply because He said it will!

Confident that He will make it so, she did not need to figure how He would make that happen.

She rested in the assurance that what He says is true, and that she can trust Him regardless of the news she had received.

He is faithful. He is enough!

I am reminded of the widow in the book of 1 Kings 17:8-16.

She did not have any bread, only a handful of flour in a bin and a little oil in a jar. She was gathering sticks to prepare for herself and her son bread, so that they would eat it and die. The man of God, Elijah said, “Don’t fear.” He instructed her to make him a small cake from it first. Then he said, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, the bin of flour will not be used up nor shall the jar of oil run dry.” She then did according to what Elijah had said and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up nor did the jar of oil run dry according to the word of the Lord which he spoke by Elijah.

It had appeared that there was no way that it would be enough. But it was enough because God had said it will be!

Always enough! HE is enough!
