“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” 1 John 1:3-4
I think John was overwhelmed by the thought that Jesus had chosen him to have a personal relationship with him while He walked this earth. For him it was life changing. He was compelled to share his encounters with Jesus to anyone who would listen. You can hear it in his writings.
I did not have the privilege of walking with Jesus physically while He was on this earth but I do have encounters with Him daily. When I encounter Him, I want that moment to stand still. I don’t want to move for fear of it leaving. When I experience His manifested presence I am overwhelmed and undone by the tangible love and joy that I feel. I want everyone to experience this. I want others to have these encounters.
Every opportunity that I have I share and I tell others what I’ve experienced. What I see on the faces of those that are listening is joy and excitement with their eyes opening wide. I have their full attention and they lean in closer so they don’t miss a thing. I believe when we share it’s an opportunity for others to draw closer to Him. It provokes them to want the same thing.
“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Psalm 34:8
“In My presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
People are so hungry to hear about God encounters. It gives them hope! They long for more. I say, “Don’t hold it in. Don’t be intimidated or afraid to share. Tell what you have seen, heard and felt in your encounters with the Lord. You don’t know but it could be life-changing for someone, like it was for John. Never before has an encounter been so desperately needed.
Tell them!
“Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14
