These are the questions that I repeatedly ask the Lord throughout my day. This started for me about 15 years ago. Here is the reason why I began asking these questions.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” John 5:19
From the moment I read that scripture I took this up as a new motto for me. I turned it into two questions. What are You saying? What are You doing? I want to join You. When I accepted the Lord as my Savior this is what happened.
“I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
Like I said, I have been doing this for a long time. Something happened the other day that was surprising and amazing. I was having a conversation with a friend and it was over something that had just happened. My normal response was going to be in my head asking those two questions. I did not have to ask the questions. The answer was there. I don’t know if a veil was lifted, a new level of maturity was achieved or if this was a new revelation. I did not have to ask the questions, I saw what the Father was saying and doing. I immediately knew how to join Him. With that situation resolved. I then went about my day.
As with every day, we are faced with multiple situations that arise out of circumstances that we are unaware of, until they are right before us. The next situation that came within the hour, I again did not have to ask the questions. I saw what He was doing and I knew what I needed to do next. I thought to myself, “Oh my goodness, this is so exciting!”
Perhaps the most exciting part of this is I know I am walking out His will. When Jesus spoke and gave the verse that I quoted up above, He was modeling for us how to perfectly walk in the Father’s will. That is our whole goal and purpose right? To constantly be in the father’s will?
It does not mean there will be no trouble or problems. In fact, I found it to be the opposite. But when you know that you are in the Father’s will you can have peace in the midst of those troubles and problems. You can let them go and rest assured that He is there to handle them. Not only can I have peace in the situation but joy as well. Because I’m resting in the Father’s arms knowing that I am completely in His will. Do I walk this out perfectly? Absolutely not but I do have holy intention.
If you don’t already do it, I want to encourage you to start asking those two questions. You will be amazed by the answers and the next step is to then join Him! He is always faithful and true.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be with you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:15-18
